Brady's 6 Month Check Up

Brady had a good check up yesterday. Measurements are 18 pounds, 7 ounces (75%tile), 28 inches (95%tile), and head circumference is 17 1/2 inches (75%tile). I think we're out of the chunky butt club!

The new pediatrician here was SO nice and I loved the office staff. It makes me sad that he only gets his 6 month check up here - it sucks when you find a good doctor and you have to move! She said Brady was going to be a pretty tall guy (which solidifies my thoughts that he is going to be exactly like my brother, who he looks like anyway) and that he was growing well. He's got a little cold and she said to watch his ears - apparently the light isn't reflecting off of the eardrum the way she'd like it to and it's just a sign that he's either drooling a lot (yes), has a cold (yes), or could be developing an ear infection. I just have to watch him for a week to see if anything gets worse.

Other than that, she said he's hitting all of his milestones and that the food/formula schedule he's on is working out and that moms usually know their babies best and to use my judgement and switch things around as I see I needed to. He's getting about 24 ounces of formula each day and she said that was about right.

I'm kind of embarassed that my back hurts as much as it does when I only have an 18 pound baby! I think once I get to Hawaii, I'm going to look into seeing a chiropractor again. :-/ I've been taking pain killers every night, but they were from my eye surgery and I'm almost out. TIme to fess up to a doctor about it!

He also got 4 shots and the oral vaccine. Didn't cry for the first shot and then screamed for the ones after it, lol. They didn't do the oral vaccine at the end like my old pediatrician, though - they did it first. My old pediatrician did it at the end to quiet them down after the shots. Oh well - to each their own. If that's the only thing I didn't like about them, I'd say we're ok!!
